What it’s Like to Work with MCI: The Mission, The Culture, The Benefits

The medical courier’s role is meaningful. Every day you’re helping people get closer to health by transporting specimens, samples, medications, equipment and more that could mean the difference between life and death. Your cargo could be a brain tissue sample that can’t be collected again, or a blood draw to diagnose cancer. There is true human consequence to this work—we know our job matters.

“I’m handling specimen transport that really matters.”

—Daniel, Driver

THE WORK – What’s it like to be a medical courier?

Everything we do at MCI comes down to the patient, and that means we care about safety and being meticulous. Our work environment is clean and organized, our cars are well-maintained, and our uniforms are crisp. We take pride in doing our job well down to the last detail.

VEHICLE RELIABILITY for Medical Courier services

Our green fleet is stocked with high-performance Prius Primes that get 54 mpg.

THE CULTURE – HEALTHCARE DELIVERY

Medical Couriers was started in 1969 by Frank Reiff, father and grandfather to the current MCI team. While we have grown considerably since those early days and incorporated the latest in leading edge technology, it remains a family oriented environment where coworkers have your back. Some of our drivers have been with us for over 20 years.

We care about our drivers. We ask how they are on a daily basis. We get to know them. This is what it means to create a culture people like being a part of. We want the people we work with to want to come to work, and that means treating them like human beings that have feelings, things to celebrate, and challenges to overcome. We believe in our drivers because they are part of our family.

Our clients feel it too. They care about our drivers because our drivers care about them. The family feeling extends beyond the Sacramento hub throughout the United States.

The average length of time our drivers work with us is over 5 years, with our longest-term contractor being with us for 20. The care and quality of work our long-term team members demonstrate reflects who we are as a company. And this care directly affects the patients we serve.

WHO WE LOOK FOR

We are always looking for conscientious people who share the same “no job is too small” ethic that guides our company to this day. If you feel that’s you, we’d love to have a conversation.

We’re always looking to grow the family. Tell us a little about yourself.
